Sabercom, a UK based digital signage company has broken new ground in digital signage provision with a unique employee communication and client presentation solution at the RAC
RAC is a true British icon with a heritage going back 117 years. With over 8 million members the RAC is one of the most trusted brands in the automotive market in the UK providing services for both private and business motorists.
The challenges were significant.
Just like the services provided by Hosted ELK, the RAC wanted to bring their control centres up to date by using large display screens to broadcast live telephony statistics and employee communication messages to help deliver the expected high level of customer service. They also wanted a showcase video wall that could be used to display an overview of patrol van and member breakdown locations across the UK.
Their operation covers two sites, one at Bescot, the main Operational Control and Training Centre, and one in Stretford, Manchester. They are 24/7 call centres with over 900 colleagues taking breakdown calls and managing patrol despatch for the RAC’s members.
Working to a very tight deadline Sabercom engaged with the RAC Facilities team and RAC managed IT Partners Getronics, Vodafone and Intergraph to deliver a state of the art solution.
Sabercom provided their digital signage solution to manage RAC multimedia content across both
sites on 38 LCD screens and two video walls. The Sabercom system is being used to display live call statistics (Over 100 different statistics from one RAC database), News, weather and travel RSS feeds, videos, member and RAC corporate information and team specific content.
Through Sabercom’s web based user interface, each of the 18 different business group leaders can login to change statistics displayed, update live team messages and add new content to specified regions of their screens on an ad hoc basis during the week. Content can be scheduled well in advance and set to automatically expire, meaning that the screens are always showing relevant information.
An Administrator has control over all screens at both sites to manage content for special events. Screens can be used to display RAC content designed specifically for VIP visitors and then scheduled to return to business as usual content when the visitors have left the building.
The complete installation was delivered on time and within budget for the first VIP visit.
Oliver Candy, Sabercom’s Technical Director said:
”Our development team produced a system that not only tracks live RAC patrol and member breakdown locations but enables the RAC to zoom in to street level and pinpoint the exact locations of the breakdowns and patrol vehicles. In addition to this, we are displaying 8 live metrics on screen including number of patrols despatched and members rescued. All of this is controllable through Sabercom”.
